A Brief History

Oriental Trading Company (OTC) was established in 1957 by a group of prominent Qatari businessmen. Petroserv Limited acquired its shares in 1987 and formed a new combined trading division which then continued to diversify and expand to meet the market requirements. Two additional showrooms have been opened and direct selling to all market sectors was introduced alongside retail development.

Once amalgamated, Petroserv Limited and OTC retained their individual identities to facilitate administration of long held agencies and also in conformity with commercial registration.

In 1997, Qatar Industrial Services (QIS) acquired Petroserv Group Companies and since then, OTC has made significant investments in new premises, improving customer facilities, increasing manpower, diversifying product range and raising stock levels.

OTC leads in providing customers with an attractive and essential product range and services with complete technical support.

OTC represents a broad spectrum of international organisations including prestigious multinationals in the state of Qatar.

OTC has access to its Group Company's engineering, fabrication and maintenance services which are available to supplement customer requirements.

The marketing policy of OTC has the flexibility to take advantage of business opportunities. The market segments being covered are Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Fertilizer, Power & Water, Steel, Cement, Municipality, Defence, Civil Aviation, Construction and associated service industries.

The procedure of selective product listing is based on demand and quality. For efficiency of market coverage, products are grouped into the following:

Showrooms

Three fully manned showrooms are strategically situated in Doha and Salwa. Stock inventory is done in the most professional manner. Products are fully displayed with sales personnel in attendance.

The Salwa Industrial Area Building of 62,600 sq. ft. includes a showroom, plant hire/rental, workshop and service centre.

Mushaireb Street showroom and Souq Al Jassim showroom cover an area of 5,600 sq. ft. and 2,800 sq. ft. respectively.

Dealer Network

Products like pumps, pipes, automotive bearings, grease, v-belts, filters, tyres and batteries are distributed through dealers also.

Plant Hire/Rental

Hire/Rental includes construction equipment, compressors, generators, pumps, road rollers, concrete mixers, hydraulic equipment and tools..

Maximum use is made of local press, trade publications and the company website, supported by telemerketing.

After Sales Service

Service teams intensively trained by our international principals and backed by the latest technology ensure product support that is both reliable and dependable.

Mechanical/Electrical Workshop

The mechanical/electrical workshop, covering an area of 9,800 sq. ft. maintains and repairs compressors, pumps, hydraulic equipment and heavy and light construction machineries. A 10-tonne overhead crane operates to ensure smooth repair flows with all makes of equipment being handled in the workshop.

Automotive Service Centre

A well equipped automotive service centre staffed by trained and specialised automobile technicians assures the highest standards of preventive maintenance and repairs.

Product Storage

A central warehouse of 18,600 sq. ft. is racked and partially air-conditioned for stocks requiring climate control, in addition to a yard facility for storing heavy and bulky materials.

A fleet of light and heavy vehicles handles deliveries to customers.

Administration

Best practice procedures are fast-tracked by computer literate personnel to cover all aspects of administration. Professionals, fully conversant with Qatar and international tender requirements, handle these as well as institutional business.

Finance

Finance department acts in an organised and systematic manner and administers activities of vital importance like financial analysis, budget preparation & control, cost control, credit analysis, periodical stock evaluation and banking etc. The latest computer software, coupled with professional accountancy, ensure speed and accuracy.

EDP/MIS

A separate EDP department exists to monitor stocks and sales through an extensive network-based computer system. The internal software development team designs and develops all the software required for the company's use and maintains its website.
